Something to Think about regarding work...
So I stumbled upon this article which really has nothing to do with politics but I wanted to share anyways because I personally found it very interesting. I never really imagined any of these being benefits for working for certain companies. When I think of "benefits" I think of things like medical and dental insurance, paid time off, and maybe certain scholarships too. This article was eye-opening because none of these benefits are really "standard" to what I thought they'd be! They include
-Bringing your dog to work (that won me over)
-Egg freezing
-Unlimited paid holiday leave
-Free holidays
And many more! The reasoning behind these perks are interesting too. For example, Netflix states that unlimited paid holiday leave creates flexibility and a sense of empowerment. This leads me to believe that perhaps these companies listed in the article are so successful because they have healthy employees who are being taken care of and not overworked. I loved this article. Before reading this, i had the same thoughts as you when it comes to benefits of a job. Paid time off, Health and Dental insurance, and holidays were what I thought as desirable benefits. I'm not too big on dogs sadly, but i thought that was pretty cool. My girlfriend loves dogs so that's all i could think about when i read it. I really liked the unlimited paid holidays idea as well. People love to feel empowered and I think that can be a positive thing.
