What headlines do you like to read?
It can be agreed that President Trump does, indeed, take up a majority of people's timelines with news on his actions. This article I stumbled upon talks about one man's experience with fully ignoring news discussing or involving President Trump. While I do feel that some media regarding our president is excessive, is it really a wise choice to fully ignore him?
On the contrary, he states, "There’s a reason you aren’t seeing these (stories about foreign affairs) stories splashed across the news. Unlike old-school media, today’s media works according to social feedback loops. Every story that shows any signs of life on Facebook or Twitter is copied endlessly by every outlet, becoming unavoidable." Makes me think that perhaps it's social media that is to blame. Our fascination with sharing, retweeting, and reblogging makes news in the U.S popular to read about. Maybe we do need to turn the other cheek and pay attention to news outside of the U.S. Perhaps there is a fine balance we need to observe when using Facebook to find out news. Read this article, and tell me where you feel that news is most credible? https://www.nytimes.com/2017/02/22/technology/trump-news-media-ignore.html
