NET NEUTRALITY

Net neutrality, as defined by Dictionary.com, is "the principle that internet service provides should enable access to all contents and applications regardless of the source, and without favoring or blocking particular products and websites," . Currently, the FCC is trying to end this. The FCC (Federal Communications Commission) chariman Ajit Pai puts twitter in particular on blast saying, "To say the least, the company appears to have a double standard when it comes to suspending or de-verifying conservative users accounts as opposed to those of liberal users," . Companies such as AT&T, Comcast, and Verizon have all supported this idea whereas companies such as Facebook and Google urge the FCC to maintain net neutrality. My question is, what would happen if we lost net neutrality? Where would our money go and who are we paying? How would servers we rely on a daily basis function without net neutrality? Our lives are about to get incredibly complicated when major companies such as AT&T and Verizon decide who gets to speak and who remains silent.Removing net neutrality is damaging to minority groups who use the internet to speak freely. Essentially everything we do on our devices will be watched. Our ability to speak freely is jeopardized when we are no longer allowed to utilize the free internet.Check out this link: https://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-internet-pai/fccs-pai-addressing-net-neutrality-rules-calls-twitter-biased-idUSKBN1DS2LB
