Thoughts on Gun Control

While speaking in South Korea, President Trump suggests that gun control could worsen the factors taken into consideration when evaluating mass shootings. He touches upon the idea-- if guns did not exist, the death toll from this shooting could have been much worse than it ended up being. "If he didn't have a gun, instead of having 26 dead, you would have had hundreds more dead," he states. He has a good point-- I think that firearms should be given out sparingly to those who can use them for the better. He had some good points. However, he failed to mention the fact that this man, Devin P. Kelley, had been using firearms illegally on a United States military base. He also had several domestic charges years ago-- if he was restrained from causing harm to the public, he would not have been able to buy a military-grade rifle in the first place. 2017 should be a wake-up call for the United States-- when will we realize that it's dangerous to have weapons available so easily? https://www.nytimes.com/2017/11/07/us/politics/trump-gun-texas-shooting.html?rref=collection%2Ftimestopic%2FGun%20Control&action=click&contentCollection=timestopics®ion=stream&module=stream_unit&version=latest&contentPlacement=25&pgtype=collection

  1. This is a great post! We absolutely need stronger gun control laws immediately. Too many mass shootings have occurred with no action. Why do people think that this is still occurring?
